the firemouth's about 3.5 inches, still not mature i don't think, but very docile. peole always compare festivum to angels, and even gourami, and my firemouth gets on really well with the 4 gourami i have in my tank.
I'd love a festivum but they just don't seem to have them anywhere in britain, at least not for reasonable pricing.
that's a very colourful firemouth for one that size too, normally they're a bit duller as juveniles.

The more you practice using the camera the better the photos. I have a stool close to the tank. By sitting there regually they seem to get used to you other that at feeding times. This makes it easer to take the photos.

Well done great photos I like all the diferent colours you have managed to capture.

are the firemouth and festivum in the same tank?

Yes they are. How large is your firemouth? Mine is tiny, so quite young...maybe 1.5" long. It's still quite shy and doesn't bother any of the other fish.

So far the festivum keeps to itself as well, generally in the top section of the tank. Very nice looking, interesting fish...I'm really glad I found it since I've heard many people say they don't often see them at lfs.

my firemouth is outright docile except towards my krib, i was wondering how well they get on with other semi-peaceful cichlids, especially since festivum have long been on my fishlist too.

And I finally got a picture of the still-elusive, really-don't-like-to-see-that-camera firemouth:

Messed around with the camera this afternoon and got some decent shots. Still working on my firemouth, who is quite small and shy.

My festivum is new and a bit shy as well, I was only able to get this pic so far:

Great shots, I'd love to see one of that cute loach next to the Keyhole.

I put some in a new thread since these were all cichlid pictures of mine dwarf chain loach

where do you find festivum?

I bounce around between four non-chain lfs, went to this particular store today because they carry Bolivians. As I was looking at the rams I glanced up and saw festivum I've been doing a lot of research on them and they were on my fish-wish-list Apparently it was only the second or third time this store has carried them.

They're finally coming out a little more now:
