With the previous setup my stapps wouldn't go near the shells for some reason. This is the best shot I could get. Unfortunately five of my tanks are on a wall opposite our balcony with verticle blinds that don't quite keep out the light 29g Tang, Jan 30 2006 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

chelaine Big Fish Posts: 383 Kudos: 343 Votes: 78 Registered: 23-Jul-2005 | thats a really cool setup... i really like the rocks as a focal point... its quite artsy, in that "just-a-pile-of-rocks-i-threw-together" kind of look... i think you've inspired me to go down to the river in search of some new river rocks.. THANK YOU! *Chelle* I love the fishes cuz they're SOOO delicious... |

Theresa_M Moderator Queen of Zoom Posts: 3649 Kudos: 4280 Votes: 790 Registered: 04-Jan-2004 | This is how the tank was first arranged: The stapps didn't like the shells grouped together on that one side and totally ignored them So the next time a water change was due I spread a bunch of towels on the floor, removed all the rocks and shells, and worked with them on the floor to come up with a mutually satisfying arrangement At that point I took a few pics so I wouldn't have problems setting it back up in the tank. Most of the rocks are heavy; my kids collected them outside our building The three that are circled in this photo are actually ceramic rocks. They are realistic looking, light-weight, and those I purchased have two holes giving the fish additional hiding places. I don't want to artifically secure the rocks in any way, so while the pile was still on the floor I kind of pushed and poked at it to make sure it wouldn't tumble over once in the tank. I originally had a mix of black and white sand with the shells and a gravel substrate for the rest of the tank. I like the new look after I spread out the sand with the gravel. Thanks again for the comments and compliments, I very much appreciate it ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
