My GT and blue acara have spawned a number of times. I wanted to save at least one but by the time they were free swimming they ended up being eaten no matter how hard mom worked to protect them.

This last time around though I accidentally got one while doing a gravel vac. Rather than put it back in the tank I set it up in a plastic bowl with tank water, some gravel, and tiny plant bits. Now it's floating in a tank that contains my platy fry. In comparison it makes the platies look huge!

I do daily water changes and feed it Hikari First Bites...still don't know if it will survive but it's been almost a week now and that's a good start.

Aww the poor little thing. You've done well to get the little guy this far, I truly hope we get to see it as an adult fish, good luck!

Still alive, and still very, very small. I haven't seen any noticeable growth since I rescued it, but it's active and seems to be eating.

Because of how the container is floating in the tank, I actually don't see it except for water changes (with a medicine dropper) and feedings (tweezers dipped in First Bites). So each time I hold my breath until I see it's alive

I know it's tiny but I'm concerned about the lack of filtration and aeration, so I'm checking into alternative setups for it.

well, wen my mum realised her swordtails had produced, she was 2 l8, but then she saw 3 of the babies and netted them and rested the net on the water surface so the net was in the water and the babies cud swim in the net wif water flowing through it, she unfortunatly lost 2 of them, and the 3rd 1 decided she didn't like bein female so became male.

i dunno how well this wud wrk in ur tank, but it mite b worth a try

Could go and purchase one of those net breeders... you get decent circulation with those and still keep the fry separated.

Good luck to the little one!
