I wanted to save at least one but by the time they were free swimming they ended up being eaten no matter how hard mom worked to protect them. This last time around though I accidentally got one while doing a gravel vac. Rather than put it back in the tank I set it up in a plastic bowl with tank water, some gravel, and tiny plant bits. Now it's floating in a tank that contains my platy fry. In comparison it makes the platies look huge! I do daily water changes and feed it Hikari First Bites...still don't know if it will survive but it's been almost a week now and that's a good start. I haven't seen any noticeable growth since I rescued it, but it's active and seems to be eating. Because of how the container is floating in the tank, I actually don't see it except for water changes (with a medicine dropper) and feedings (tweezers dipped in First Bites). So each time I hold my breath until I see it's alive I know it's tiny but I'm concerned about the lack of filtration and aeration, so I'm checking into alternative setups for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
