Any good places to buy live plants online? | |
Azn_Devil Big Fish Posts: 366 Kudos: 310 Votes: 5 Registered: 30-Apr-2004 | Well my LFS is just horrible, it has good fish and equipment, but there are hardly any plants there. I really want my tank to look good, but it is really hard since i cant research and then just get the plants i want since my LFS mostlikely does not have it. So are there any sites you guys would like to recommend to me? |

illustrae Fish Addict Posts: 820 Kudos: 876 Registered: 04-May-2005 | I've bought plants from several places, and www.aquariumplant.com has been my favorite. Their plants are very healthy and the bunch plants come with more stems per bunch than other sites I've tried, and their selection is fantastic. Their prices are also reasonable, as are their shipping rates. Even with Priority mail, my plants have arrived healthy and looking great. As with any aquatic plant, you still have to watch out for snail eggs if that's not something you want in your tank, but their plants never have any trace of algae. The costs these companies charge for shipping is far beyond what it would cost a hobbyist to ship plants personally. I have found shipping plants can run from 6.00 to 25.00, depending the quantity and packaging. Boxes are most expensive, bubble envelopes the cheapest. Having mailed plants via postal services over 5000KM and having them arrive A-OK, I can say give it a try, you may be much much happier. illustrae Fish Addict Posts: 820 Kudos: 876 Registered: 04-May-2005 | So_Very_Sneaky is right, shipping costs are a pain. Priority mail is usually not garunteed, but I've never had a problem with it. Someitmes getting plants from aqiarium hobby societies or places like Aquabid and/or Ebay is cheaper. Sometimes it's not, and you run into the risk of dealing with private individuals rather than companies, so the quality of the plants can be more iffy.
