Can't say I blame you, it's a fairly easy, yet VERSATILE and for the most part hardy plant.... And when healthy it looks quite amazing.. My regular java is VERY healthy and looks amazing in 1.5 wpg tank (10 gal) that receives no additives. I have e-mails to go thru with people wanting to buy it off me. I am considering it when I upgrade the tank.. Why not ? Then I can start growing another type in there ![]() "Mosses do well in low-light tanks right?" - Regular java, does well in low light. As for the others, the amount I have is so small I haven't got them into a tank yet to experiment. Weeping Moss likes higher light by the looks of things. The Amazon Nut... |

Have thread going in the local website too. The fish manager of my favorite store was kind enough to post this which is written by the guy I call 'Doctor Moss' who has did a bit of research. See linkie... Mosses found in Singapore Shops. http://sea.nus.edu.sg/aquatic-mosses.pdf You guys are a GREAT help, will write more when I awake later.. Yes pics and some type of 'report' would be a great idea Ingo. There is one challenge and that's giving them all growing conditions to thrive. But I see a custom 'moss-tainer' with many compartments in the works. Think I will need 3 containers, each with 5 compartments. Untitled, if you are interested a pinch of Weeping Moss in exchange for a pinch of your Pellia cuttings, then lets do it. I've edited the list with species you've added, thanks ![]() Last edited by DaFishMan at 15-Oct-2005 08:17 The Amazon Nut... |

At least in my experience. By the way, I've not seen the moss I've tossed in the pond in that pdf file you linked for. Don't know what it is though, could be willow moss? PM me your address and I will send you some Pellia. No need for the moss, but thanks anyway. If you want I can try and fish some of the moss I have in the pond for your inspection. |

This fishy habit of mine is addictive, and the number of addictions are growing. Mosses do well in low-light tanks right? Then I may have found the greens for both my tanks! It needs a little trimming so if you want the left overs I can put them in an envelope and post it. I also had some moss, don't know how it's called, which I didn't like and tossed it into the pond where it really flourished during the summer. Bought it as Christmas moss but it definitely wasn't it. It is long and stringy and doesn't really branch. By the way, isn't riccia a livewort? If it is then you should add riccia and mini riccia to your list. |

On my Webpage You can see my moss at the bottom the one on the right was sold to me as Java Moss, the two on the left are the un identified. My mother has a square yard of the stuff at least, I picked up some that was displaced. It has been in the tank for a couple days now and it is as green as ever. Take a look see what you think! Should I put some of it in my garden to let it grow out there so i can sell it if it transfers to the tank properly, or just let it grow in the tank and sell clips from there? Michael |
