Hi All,
I have been asked to sell some of my young plants
to a person online, and have agreed. I am unsure exactly how to package them, but will be sending them in a large 10x10 or 12x12 padded envelope. Here was what I planned:
Pack each plant indivually wrapped in wet paper towel.
Wrap these again in wet newspaper, pack inside a ziplock bag, add some more water, then put inside the envelope.
Would that work? They would be taking approximately 7-10 days to arrive cross country. Would they dry out in the time or will they be ok? Do you know of a better way to ship live plants? Any ideas would be appreciated thanks!

I've ordered plants online before and they've come simply in plastic baggies, no wet papertowels or anything. They were shipped in a box and the bags were packed loosely in newspapers. At request, a heat or cold pack is included depending on climate. While there is SOME water in the bags, simply to keep the plants in a humid environment, it's usually little more than a sprinkle of water. Water simply increases the postage.

Of course, I believe I chose 2-3 day shipping when ordering plants, so they fared quite well with just that small bit of water. In this temperature (don't know about you, but it's in the 90's here!), I certainly wouldn't use any shipping method that would take more than a few days... you'll have wilty plants!

I've gotten lots of plants shipped to me and they were always just stuck in a plastic bag with a little water and then packed in a box or padded envelope depending how big and how many plants it was. Until now none of my plants have taken more than 5 days to get to me and no more than 3days in hot or really cold weather. Right now I have some moss shipping internationally that is taking much longer so hopefully it will arrive ok.

I recently bought some plants via post a big disaster took too long 7days and the plants melted.

Second time paid extra (them not me) and delivered overnight, they arrived perfect condition.

They were well wrapped in wet news paper and then in a zip locked bag no water added.

Hi,
When you are shipping plants you want to keep them from
being crushed (use boxes), you want to keep them damp
(pack in wet newspaper and in plastic bags), and you want
to keep them from freezing (don't ship them so that they
are left out on the runway or in an unheated warehouse.
