Anyone know if dwarf lilly plants dislike flourish excel? The red one in my 55g was growing quite happily until recently and now it only has 1 sad looking leaf left. The only thing I can think of that's changed is that I'm dosing excel more regularly until I get the leak fixed on the co2. The plant is somewhat in the shade of a big piece of driftwood but with four 65w bulbs I wouldn't think that would be a problem and it was growing fine a month ago.

Hi,
I've read of others having troubles with various plants
after beginning the use of Flourish Excel and when I read
your post I found this link:

http://www.seachem.com/support/FAQs/FlourishExcel_faq.html

While the question/answer deals with another plant, the
reply does say that some plants are sensitive to the
product and they suggest using the produce every other
day. I suggest that your plant may be even more sensitive,
and perhaps you might want to lengthen the time between
doses?

I have used some pretty heavey doses of excel in my tank with tiger and red tiger lotus in it with no problems. Though I am also using CO2 at a pretty heavy rate.

At work I got a little crazy with the Excel and melted off a bunch of nice crypts. They are coming back now but it was messy.

It is like all ferts aquatic or not you hve to choose the correct one and use only at the recommemded dosage. Too much can kill a plant and not enough will not even work at all. What is good for one group of plants is a big nono for other groups of plants.

I have used Excel for Hair Algae and it works but I would not use it continually just inn short two week bursts.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

I have had a lily bulb in my 29 for a couple a weeks now. the tank is dosed with 3 ml of excel each day. the bulb sprouted in 3 days. It is growing nicely now. BTW, is there a thin leaved variety of nymphaea, because thats how mine is growing so far. Looks nice and attractive.
