Finally a big tank! | |
dmarkham0117 Hobbyist Posts: 68 Kudos: 18 Votes: 1 Registered: 12-Sep-2006 | Haven't been around in a while, but I was hoping to start a new tank log...I'm ditching my 42 gallon hex for a 125 gallon tank. Just ordered it and this is what is on the way. I'd like some advice as to what any of you think I might need in addition to my list below. * 125g All Glass aquarium * 2x96w 6700k CF lighting (not much w/gallon I know, but this is going to be a discus tank and I didn't want to over do it. * 5lb CO2/regulator, needle valve, bubble counter, CO2 diffuser * 2 Hydor in-line 300W heaters * 2 Odyssea CFS 4 canister filters (Emperor 280 HOB if needed) * 8 bags of Flourite I'll be transferring a few plants from my 42 hex. Anubia Barteri Anubia Lanceolata Anubia Petite Nana Hornwort Some Java Moss Of course I'll be needing plenty of plants...any suggestions for the 1.5 watts per gallon? Any restrictions for the high temp (84-86F) concerning plants? Thanks! Dan |

The regular plants that you have are slow growing, and Co2 wont really help. Unless you add Aponogeton bulbs, or the lace plant, you wont have too many options. Also, if you add aponos, the flourite will go to no waste. Hope to see more posts! ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |

I have several pieces of drift wood that are encrusted with java moss though that I will use until I can find some of the X-mas moss. Gobyfan...I do intend to get some more fast growers. Wisteria Anacharis Rotala Indica Apons like you mentioned And maybe some smaller swords Rosette..etc. I've had every algae that I can think of, but have always been able to combat it with the photo period, algae eating livestock, or fast growing plants. One thing that I did leave out as far as my equipment is my UV sterilizer. IMO I think that helps with algae as well. |
