what do you mean by heavy roots? meaning that they root deep, strong, or just heavy in general?

Depending on how much light you have, the sword may or may not do well, they are a medium light plant. If you can tell us what size tank you have and how many watts of (hopefully) fluorescent lighting you have, we can easily let you know how they will do. And yes, mature sword plants will have incredibly dense root structure. Swords also just get very large in general, and can easily outgrow most any tank size given time.

Crypt lutea is a low light plant and is generally considered pretty easy to take care of, you shouldn't have much problem there.

Swords are heavy root feeders... maybe that is what was meant? The sword will thank you if you have a rich substrate or use fertilizer spikes or tabs around the plant. Of course, most plants will enjoy the extra nutrients...

Hi,
Swords are moderate to high light plants. They are
heavy root feeders meaning that they develop very large
wide spreading root systems to draw up the nutrients.
Given time a single sword can "take over" tanks with
capacities in the hundreds of gallons.

Here is a link you might be interested in. In it are
links to pictures of the various types of swords:
