If you can tell us what size tank you have and how many watts of (hopefully) fluorescent lighting you have, we can easily let you know how they will do. And yes, mature sword plants will have incredibly dense root structure. Swords also just get very large in general, and can easily outgrow most any tank size given time. The sword will thank you if you have a rich substrate or use fertilizer spikes or tabs around the plant. Of course, most plants will enjoy the extra nutrients... ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

They are heavy root feeders meaning that they develop very large wide spreading root systems to draw up the nutrients. Given time a single sword can "take over" tanks with capacities in the hundreds of gallons. Here is a link you might be interested in.
