Ive just recently planted my 20g and im just wondering how to gravel vac without uprooting the plants... ive tried a couple of times but the plants all floated out of the gravel.

Hi,
In a planted tank, you clean the unplanted areas and wave
your hand over the planted areas in a swirling motion to
lift any debris up into the water column where the siphon
can remove it.

Next time you go to you LFS see if they have the very small gravel vacs they are under 1ins in diameter. As Frank explained just wave your hand or gravel vac just above the surface on the gravel.
