	Night time plants
Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005	At night time my plants top section of leaves tend to fold upwards and then in the morning come back down to the spread out postition that they stay all day long. It's like when you see flowers close their petals at nights but open up in the daytime. I'm sure someone here will have a detailed explanation of what's actually happening biologically. Cheers! -P

Some plants after being exposed to light for a period will close up shop. Probably finished photosynthesising for the day and moving from the o2 production to Co2 production phase. Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability.

luvmykrib Fish Addict Posts: 585 Kudos: 256 Votes: 27 Registered: 08-Nov-2005	I have noticed the same thing in my tanks, and it seems to be only the stem plants doing that, although I only have hygros and watersprite and the hygo is the one that does it. My outside garden plants also have exhibited the same behavior, like sunflowers follow the sun, and poplars turn their leaves over when it rains. They are programmed to do this. Could it be a sign that they are getting enough light? And are conserving energy by folding up? Could be experiment time! Reason: they just have enough Seriously, just like any hard worker, they need a break and call it a day. I am just glad they don't get paid vacation .
