Well, I've been given a 4X2X2 tank from a mate of my dad's and Ive decided to spend some money and do it up hardcore for a display in the lounge room.

It will be an opened top aquarium and it will be at the back of the lounge room.

I am going to order a nice black stand for the tank, and some equipment.

I already have a list of products I need to order, but just wondering what products you would recommend. Im trying to stick with the Dupla, Aquamedic and Seachem Products.

So far I got on my shopping list:
Aquasunlight NG (Aquamedic metal Halides and T5 tubes)
Aqualine 5000 bulbs (planted bulbs for MHs)
Dupla Co2 Set, 1000g bottle
SeaChem Flourite Red (substrate), still got to calculate how much...

Filter, havent found one yet, but would like some suggestions. Also any other suggestions for the tank would be recommended,

thanks

Well...my suggestion is go with canister filter obviously. Not only will you already have signifigant water loss being an open topped tank, but you'll also want to minimize surface agitation for the CO2 you're injecting. I'm looking to get an Eheim Ecco in the near future, they're a little underrated for your sized tank, but if you've got other filtration options already they might be an economical addition.
Besides...I find it nice to look down from the top of the tank, or look up and see the tank reflected in it's own surface :%)!

Well it looks like you're going to need a reactor for the CO2, if it doesn't come with the set. There was a good looking one on www.drsfostersmith.com . With a cannister filter you can put the reactor in-line with your filter output which saves on putting a powerhead in the tank.

And you are most definitely going to need some ferts with your high light and CO2. You can get dry ferts [link=here]http://www.gregwatson.com/products.asp?cat=8" style="COLOR: #FFD700[/link] and mix your own or go with seachem's line of products if you like.

If you're looking for floating plant suggestions, consider Ludwigia sedoides. I just got my first yesterday, and it didn't ship great, but already like it.

I would strongly consider the Eheim Pro II Thermofilter dor your 120G tank. The 2128 is rated for aquaria up to 158G. The trays give you a tremendous amount of bio-media. Living in Oz, you should not need an additional heat source. The unit eliminates the heater stuck in the tank.

I agree with Bob,
Eheim filter ? Dennerle base ferts? Resin back profile? Woods and stones? Since you got most of the vital necessities, I think you'd want to plan what's going to live in your tank

Being a Eheim user and never had a problem I would go for the Pro11 but not the one that has the inbuilt heater. I personaly dont think it is worth the extra $$. I have two heaters in my 5ft one at the inlet and the other at the opposite end with the outlet.
