So, got the whole nine yards when it comes to the Seachem Flourish products. Just had a question, read somewhere where the carbon in the filter might simply pick up whatever I put in there, thus basically neutralizing it. Any truth to this, should I take out the carbon from the filter before I add the products or am I ok as it is?

Thanks.

Hi,
Yes, there is truth to the statement. Carbon does pick
up many of the components of the nutrients. It is best
to remove the carbon from the filter.
Actually carbon will become "inactive" after a
brief period (depending upon the stocking and the water
quality), it gets "saturated" so to speak and then becomes
just another form of mechanical filtration. It's use
today in freshwater tanks is for removing the last vestiges
of medications after treating for ailments and to remove
tannins from the water leached from fresh driftwood.

Hey Frank, thanks man, would it be enough for me to consider removing it completely?

Frank is 110% correct the carbon will just make the Seachem ferts totally useless. After a short period of time you would be noticing that the ferts were not working at all.
If you want further info about Seachem ferts go to Seachem

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
