how many times have you re-arranged plants before you got them just right? I planted my tank last week and apparently I don't have a "designing thumb" cause I don't think it looks that good. I know it'll have to grow in a some.

Keep on arranging the tank, till it looks good & you like it.
Don't worry much, as you're not the only one & think for some space for the Plants to grow.

2,347 times. Never got it just right

Don't worry, I don't think anybody gets it right first time. Give the plants a bit of time to fill out , you'll get a better idea how things will look.

I am a bit like Bernard with the 5ft tank I have to move a lot of small Anubias fixed to rocks at the front so that I can do a gravel vac and cleaning ever week.

When you think you have just got it perfect next week you come up with another idea to improve it.

My Betta tank is a bit different all I have to do is keep a good check on the Stem plants as they are growing too fast.

Hi,
Trying to keep a tank with one specific "look" involves
an unimaginable amount of WORK (ugh). The durned things
grow, and move, and well.. things change. You can start
out with a "look" but soon it will change as plants age,
grow, change shades of green, or sprout new ones.
Your planted tank is a living thing and the best you can
hope to do is to "guide" it towards maturity and even then
you will soon decide to rearrange it much as my
wife decides to rearrange the living room, and the
study, and the..
Well you get the point. Enjoy the tank as it grows.

Frank

I really think your tank looks great and will look even better once it's filled in The angels are nice too.

The driftwood with the cave is awesome !

I agree, very nice tank! I love the variety of angels you have

One suggestion I would make-and I'm still pretty much an aquascaping beginner-would be to slope the substrate down towards the front. That's something I never did until I kept reading it in books and online and it really does make a difference.

Thanks!

Theresa, I noticed the substrate the other day...not sure how I didn't catch that when i was setting it up. the next time I do some cleaning I'm going to try to adjust that slope.

jsparkman,

Looks very nice and spacious. It is a little too empty for my taste, but this will change soon when your plants start to grow. Sloping is a good idea.

Keep it up

I've changed my tank(s) around probably every couple months. If you're going for something you'll be satisfied with, prepare for the long haul...as soon as you get used to it you'll want to change it.
