My java fern has about two very browned leaves, should I remove them?

you dont have to as they will drop off on there own. But if you want to remove them manually then give it a little pull. If they pull off in you fingures then they where ready to come off. But if you pull them a little and they realy dont want to come off even though they are brown i would say leave it they will come of on there own.

Hi,
As a part of my weekly tank maintenance (water change
and gravel vacuuming) I also trim off any dead or dying
leaves from my plants. I do remove them from the tank.
There is no sense in leaving dead leaves on the substrate
as it will increase your nitrate reading and can be
unsightly.

Pruning is all part of the game, nip off dead leaves as routine.

It is possibly the best to remove all dead leaves at change over time if they decay in the tank it is possible to upset the balance of the water also it looks very untidy.
