Troppos weekend (pic heavy) | |
Gone_Troppo Enthusiast Posts: 285 Kudos: 196 Registered: 13-Mar-2007 | Hi I've been doing a little bit of puddle pirating around town this weekend and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the results and can only assume that the pickings will get better once the rains start properly. I was hoping to scoop up some rainbow fish to keep my purple spotted gudgeon company but made the mistake of taking a talkative, fidgety 5 year old with me; anyway I still collected some nice plants so I'm happy. (Just a quick reminder to make sure to check local laws in relation to collecting plants & animals before you go out looking to collect stuff for your aquariums - the laws vary depending on where you live and if you get it wrong the penalties can be quite harsh!) What I've been able to ID so far is: najas tenuifolia (1), emergent watersprite (2), Monochoria vaginalis (3), a grass-like plant that might be a form of blyxa (4&5) (it could just be regular grass that has washed into the creek too), hairgrass (6), Limnophila chinensis (7), and a few others that I haven't yet identified (8-12) Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pic 6 Pic 7 Pic 8 Pic 9 Pic 10 Pic 11 Pic 12 G_T Never be afraid to try something new. I fullly agree it alwayspays to check all the local laws other wise big big problems When it was allowed I used to collect bits and pieces for the cold SW tanks at school for the Science dept. I have recently seen photos of many different shrimps in your area. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Perhaps she will want her own aquarium on a desk in her bedroom to house her "treasures." CUL Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |
