It can apparently get up to 6" across, but mine seem to get to about 2". They start tiny though, and replicate themselves very quickly! This is essentially a weed, and so is very tolerant of temp and lighting. It would probably be fine in your community tank.

I have an HOB on my 29 gal though, and have found that the tiny plants will get carried under the water's surface by the current and end up clogging the HOB intake.

I vote! Do you?

In our pond, water lettuce got to the above quoted 6"+. In my tank, it stayed under about an inch. The difference is in the lighting intensity and proximity, I think. It's another small plant that reproduces quickly and can be quite messy, so you'll have similar problems to what you're having with the salvinia...

Remember with a big floating plant it blocks out light to any lower plants also some can burn if lighting too strong.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
