i'm new to the whole planted tank thing and am looking for a little advice. at the moment my 55 gallon contains only plastics plants and was looking at moving towards some real ones. i was after some plants that are not to hard to lookafter and are forgiving for a beginner so they wont die on me in the first week.

tank contains

6 corydoras
10 neon tetras
2 ansistrus
2 three spot gouramis
2 red gouramis

Ph 6-6.5

Without getting into how much light you have etc., the plants that will survive in almost any tank are,

Java Fern
Java Moss
Anubias (the plastic plant that grows)
Most Cryptocorenes should do ok too.

Don't expect too much growth but they should survive quite well, need no maintenance or fertilization.

Bernard beat me again.
The only other suggestion would be to get a very hardy Crypt and only one variety to commence with, this will depend on you suplier, check with us here when you have made your decision.

I have a fully planted Anubias 5ft tank yes they are a very hardy and easy plant to grow, with very little maintainence over all.

Bernard also has an excellent tank.

you can also try corkscrew vals (vallisneria), i've had some good luck with them without using ferts or special treatment/lighting.

Hi,
At the top of this section (Forum) there is a "sticky note"
with nearly the exact same wording as your question.
Read it, and then respond with your remaining questions
or the information that the others have requested.
