![]() | unpotting plants. |
mariosim![]() Enthusiast Posts: 207 Kudos: 245 Votes: 20 Registered: 28-Jul-2004 ![]() ![]() | i can cut the plastic pot off easily enough, but removing the wool seems impossible. is it necessary to remove all of it prior to planting? the wisteria i tangled with this morning had a large number of roots entwined in the wool. i would hate to harm the plant by lobotamizing its' root system. the potted plants seemed to be a lot healthier then the bare rooted ones. is this true? is it acceptable to leave the plant in the pot? the roots poking out of the bottom of the pot were impressive. i have not messed with rooted aqautic plants for 20 yrs or so, so if this sounds like a newbie plant question, it is. any info would be helpful. i tried using the plant profile on this site, but all i can get is a "sorry! the page you are looking for cannot be found" message. |

Some of the very smallest will be snapped off, but the main roots will remain intact. You should remove the fabric. It contains a wealth of nutrients that will, in essence, polute your tank and give algae a tremendous boost. Frank ![]() -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

All I ever do is remove the pot trying not to break any roots. I prefer to clean under the tank water I would take out a few Lt. I never plant a new plant I will let them float until I can see they have re adjusted to their new environmemt. Some times I will wait several weeks before I plant or fix to a rock or a piece of drift wood.
