Most specimens do not regrow limbs,although they typically recover more tissue than a human would.The few that do usually grow back some really dreadful warpy looking things that dont work very well. Some of the fully aquatic newts are much better at that. Axolotls are pretty good at it, but even then perfect regrowth is probably 90% against. They have the ability, but for the most part its crap. Things generally frow back tails better than limbs- simpler structure and designed to be lost. When bacteria causes scar tissue badly on stumps etc, the longbones often never grow back. |
