20 Gallon Hex Lighting Suggestions | |
OldTimer Mega Fish USAF Retired Posts: 1181 Kudos: 1294 Votes: 809 Registered: 08-Feb-2005 | I currently have a 20 gallon hex which I'm setting up and would like to place live plants in it. Will probably have to be of a lower light variety as to the lighting limitations this tank has. Will have a nice piece of drift wood that I can attach plants to also. The standard lighting is a 12" flourescent which is very limited on its output. Any suggestions as to what I can do to improve on this? If need be I can make a full plexiglas top for it which would allow for some additional lighting, but not positive how to mount the lighting to the tank. I won't be able to hang a light from the ceiling or mount to the wall so need some other suggestions. Jim |

You could probably get at least 1 wpg. I've also seen mini compact fluorescent fixtures like this one: http://www.thatpetplace.com/Products/KW/F52/Class/Fish+Supplies+Lighting+Fixtures/T1/F52+0047+0870/EDP/39453/Itemdy00.aspx Perhaps two of those, or a similar diy retrofit would work. If you're interested in plants with high light requirements, a single me Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |
