My 29g tank is bowing out in the middle a little less than 1cm. Basically the middle sticks out 1 cm farther than it's supposed to. The tank is really old, so I'm guessing it's a sign that the glass is getting weak and the tank needs to be replaced. If I wiggle it it will move another 1 cm really easily...like it's loose...

The back of the tank looks like it's worse, but it's kind of hard to tell because the entire back of the tank is covered by HOB filters (I'm serious...2X Penguin 125's and a Whisper 20-40).

What do you guys think? Do I need a new tank? Or should I make some kind of a brace to hold it straight?

If I need to replace the tank because of this it's just another thing on the list of reasons to do so...The tank is scrached up, old, and the seals aren't looking great either, but should last atleast 5 more years before I notice any leaks(I touched them up from the outside a few months ago anyway).

What do you guys think? Do I need a new tank? Or should I make some kind of a brace to hold it straight?

YES and more YES. Do it before you have a disaster it will be easer to transfer to a new tank slowly rather than finding temp homes and getting a new set up and running quickly.

Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.

I got my fish in a 14g rubbermaid tub with my light, filters, and plants in there too. I got the 29g drained most of the way down, I'm going to leave some water in there until I have time to clean out the gravel so it doesn't stink. I'm gonna sell my old 29g to somebody who wants to keep reptiles or bugs or something in it that doesn't live in water. I'm gonna use that money toward a new tank (the cheapest I can find them in town is $40).

Atleast this will give me an opprotunity to get some REAL gravel (not flaking blue painted stuff), and to level my dresser I'm using as a stand
