7 Foot Tank | |
Brengun Big Fish Posts: 355 Kudos: 187 Votes: 110 Registered: 22-Jun-2007 | I have been offered a secondhand 7 foot tank. I measured the area at home and 7 foot fits perfectly. Only one problem...can two people lift a 7 foot tank? Is it really difficult? I wouldn't want to be dropping it 5 mins after I paid for it. |

I'd figure a 7 would be as heavy. Depending on what other issues might be involved (stairs, hills, narrow passage ways) you might want very good strong friends or consider a moving company that handles small local moves. ^_^ |

Granted we have very narrow stairs that have a bunch of turns involved. ^_^ |

I think the 220G was 6x2x2. Each of us had a corner. Something smaller like a 125G two people could easily handle. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

One cannot just grab it by the sides and heave upwards. I'd suggest four men, stand along one side of the tank, and with pressure at the bottom, have the four shove it side ways till there is about a hands width of glass off the edge. Then have the guys come around on that side and lift up to start taking the weight off the stand. Once the tank is in the air they should distribute themselves so that the tank is supported. An extra two guys in the middle on the 7 ft tank may be a really good idea to help prevent bowing. Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

I think that for a 7 foot tank, you'll be needing 6 persons. http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

No only could we bust something(probably ourselves) but I don't think it will quite do the turn into the room I have for it, even if I take the door off its hinges. Might keep a 4, 5 or 6ft more in mind maybe. |
