I carefully measured the inner dimensions so that the cut, polished, and beveled, glass lid would sit inside the plastic trim of the tank and left a small gap along the length of the back for hoses and heaters, etc. Mine is all one piece but its only a 30G tank I rest my light on the glass Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

Part of the light strip was on the middle plastic hinge, after a few hours I noticed that the hinge was a little twisted and very warm. Is there a risk of the hinge melting? or can I leave the light strip the way it its? I currently have the lightstrip raised up a few centimeters using pennies so there would be some ventalation. Thank You THEIR short response, which took 5 days >.> You should not have a problem even if you did not have the pennies. i did try 10 hours with the light directly over the strip with no pennies, no change happened. although, i havent been able to do more tests since there is now an algae breakout due to all the light not being taken up by plants (since for some god damn coincidence, NO STORES HAD PLANTS!!!)
