Hi, all. I have an air wand that has been running continuously for about a two weeks now. A section of the wall has stopped producing bubbles. Any ideas on why? I cant figure it out. There aren't any gravel stones blocking anything. It's weird.

Thanks!

It it on the far side of the wall from where the air enters the block? If so, it could possibly be a bit of algae growth that blocks airflow so that the air seeks the easiest way out of the block, i.e. near the area where it enters the block. maybe giving it a good rinse will help.

Sometimes the air holes that the bubbles are produced from get a little clogged. The best way to fix this is try scrubbing, without soap and water of course, and you can also make more holes by using a needle or safety pin or something along those lines. HTH

A half hour soak in a vinegar and water solution (out of the tank of course ) will help clean it up from anything thats clogging it. My bubble wall always produces fewer bubbles the further you get from the side attached to the airpump, you could also try splitting the airline and attiching it to both ends of the bubble wall.
HTH a bit .

WOW! All great advice! Thanks!

I tried to split it but was a bit nervous about it - I didn't want to break anything. ...this is the only hobby I get to spend money on anymore...this year is the "I'm poor" year b/c we're trying to pay off bills. But, I have been SEVERELY bitten by the aquarium bug! I'm surprised! I think about my fish all the time!

Anyway, I will rinse, scrub and run another tube into the other end. If that doesn't work, I'll do the vinegar soak.

Thanks for the help, everyone!!!

Hi,
All the advice that was given is good.
What causes it to happen is bacteria that grows
on the wand and clogs the very small holes.
Regular cleaning can help but over time the
holes will eventually become completely clogged
and you will need to purchase a new one.
