I am looking for people that have used DIY Co2 on a little bit bigger tanks that you should. Right now I have a 40G long that I have been running one bottle with a bubble lader. Things with this seem to be going fine. I just set up a second bottle with a Corelife Limewood block as my diffuser method.

What do people think I could pull off for ppm of Co2 with this?

Would it hurt to add on a 3rd bottle? Right now my fish are doing just fine so I am sure the levels aren't getting too out of hand.

Basicly I don't want to run off and buy some test kits yet. Thanks for all your help.

Hi,
While I understand that money can be tight, your comment
about not purchasing a test kit is kinda like saying that
you want a car but don't want to have to take it to a
mechanic.
If you are going to drive the plants with CO2 and increased
lighting, then you need to know what your water chemistry
is. You need to know at least the basics such as the pH,
and KH so that you can plot them on a chart and know what
your CO2 saturation is. You also should know what your
nitrate reading is. You can always take a water sample to
your LFS, but very soon, they are going to strongly suggest
to you that you purchase your own test kit as you are
costing them money in both parts and labor for each test
they perform. They will also encourage you to spend your
money with them depending upon what the tests reveal.

Water testing, and knowing your water, is a part of keeping
and enjoying fish. You cannot separate them.

As for your question, there is no real way to say that
with 1 bottle you can achieve x mg/l saturation, and with
2 bottles you should get y mg/l and with three you should
get z mg/l. It simply does not work that way.

I don't know if you have read this or not but this is basically what I am going off of. My fish are doing fine, showing no signs of stress and I am doing 50% water changes every week. I am really not too worried about testing my water all the time. I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that has tested their Co2 out put using DIY method and what they were able to get out of it. I know there are quite a few different variables that come into play but I was just looking for a rough idea.

Hi,
No, I have not seen, nor read, that article and in glancing
at it tonight, I can see that I want to print it and read
it with a cup of coffee or two when I'm fully awake in the
morning.

Apparently, I misread your question as that was not what
I gleaned from reading your initial question.
