Brand of heater? | |
lowlight Enthusiast Posts: 166 Kudos: 94 Registered: 03-Apr-2005 | I am wondering what brand of heater you like and why. I used to have the Titanium tube from viaqua. I liked it because it was accurate and had the external temp control, also had a temp probe that could be placed almost anywhere in the tank. The heater worked great through the winter did not come on at all through summer and it did not come on at all after summer. Ever happen to anybody else? |

They have been reliable and when one shattered in the tank, the safety switches shut down the unit with no livestock losses. I have since replaced that unit under warranty with a Stealth Visi-Therm. I wanted the shatterproof exterior just in case the fish held another party and whacked the heater. lowlight Enthusiast Posts: 166 Kudos: 94 Registered: 03-Apr-2005 | The temp in my tank dropped down to 71.3deg. So I went and bought another titanium tube by viaqua. I thought about the stealth heaters, I like the features of the titanium tube though. I will see how it turns out, if it quits working again I will probably get a stealth or a proheat. I might have ruined the other titanium tube when I didn't unplug it and the water level dropped below the temperature sensor. Since it is made out of titanium, I don't think my fish will break it. Thanks for the replies. |

I have Jaeger in 2 tanks and Visi-Therm in the big tank. I like the latter better as the dial on both Jaegers has nothing to do with the actual tank temperature. Although the temp stays stable, I set them now to 73-75 and have a tank temp of 80-78 respectively. That means one is off by 7, the other by 3 degrees. The first one changed its settings after I turned it off during a water change. I just ordered 2 more Visi-Therm for these tanks. Another advantage of these is that I can fully submerse them, which is not the case for my Jaegers (although older models say you can submerse them) and it is also not found on the desc Ingo |

My via aqua still works great and my stealth heaters haven't budged a degree. I'm only buying via aqua or stealth heaters from now on. The external temperature control and accuracy of the via aqua comes in handy sometimes but the stealth heaters are just plain indestructible. It doesn't matter if I drop the water level below the heater, drop the heater, or it gets hit by something. They just keep heating the water to the same temperature no matter what I do to them. |

They turn off automatically when the water level drops. I never unplug them when I do a water change. I wouldn't dare to do that with my Jaeger. Ingo |

Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | I use only Tronic. They seem to be really good heaters. The thing that sold me on them is that they are sopposed to shut off if they go bad in stead of getting hotter. For the most part they keep my tanks right at the set temp. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |
