Built-in bench tank | |

When I bought my current house, a few of the floorboards were replaced because there was some damage to them, the floor was then refinished and you probably wouldnt know the wood was replaced unless you knew. And the house was built back in the 40's so it's not like it was new flooring :%). ^_^[hr width='40%']"in any case, chocolate is hardly a rare comodity." said Chaos. If you dont own the appartment as it is a biult in unit it will have to stay this will either add value or make it harder to sell. Visibltity of the tank will only be appreciated when you are sitting on the floor as you will always be looking down and not at the tank. You will have to make an lost space area for all the equipment, including an area where you can do all the regular feeding and cleaning etc. Being in a bench it would be subject to a lot of virbration and noises from the bench top. The closeness to the floor would also have a lot of passing traffic causing stress to some fish. Wall units built in have far less problems. Sorry to be so critical but I think you would prefer looking at all options weather they be good or bad. Comments, not sure how helpful they'll be... What type of floor do you have? Hardwood wont be all that hard to patch up I'd assume?, or just use it as a infloor planter ...I had some other idea about that but cant remember... About the stand, I asked someone at work once and they commented that a stand should be @least 1' tall in order to fully distribute the ammount of weight. Dont forget the ammount of weight of people sitting on the bench as well as the tank itself. Now as for the idea of the bench itself being a tank...same thing I argued with adam, how are you planning on watching them ....and why not use a tank for a table instead? Okay not too helpful but I'm sleepy and wanna make sure I keep tabs on this project :%) sounds interesting! ^_^[hr width='40%']"in any case, chocolate is hardly a rare comodity." said Chaos.
