The out and inflow hoses from the the tank to the canister are a transparent green. After 3 weeks I've noticed that the inside surface of the hoses are pretty gunky. Like a film of algae or dirt. Is this normal? Do you clean the inside of the hoses? If so how often and most importantly how the heck do you clean the inside of a 3' hose ?! I clean mine about once every four months. Lastly, you clean it with this or something similar - http://www.petdiscounters.com/aquarium/maintenance/cleaning/ml_flexi.html . I'm not recommending the website as I have never ordered from them - just wanted to give you an idea on what it looks like. It is basically a rigid nylon wire that you run through the hose and it comes out on the other end. You grab the end and pull it through. The brush on the end you are pulling through cleans the hose. You run water through the hose to rinse it out. The end. |

Also it will depend on the length of your hose mine is close to 6ft and I dont think those brushes are that long. A very easy way is to fix a small fishing sinker to a strong nylon line and on the other end a small piece of rag and just pull it through a few times then hose it clean thats all I intend to do.
