What direction do you point your spraybar? I have a Fluval 203 and have it pointed towards the front. I tried it point downwards but it created too much bubbles. Is their a "proper" direction its supposed to point at?

Its really up to you, and depends primarily on your application. If you want good surface agitation, spray it across the top. If you want good turnover in the tank, aim it straight down. If you submerge the spray bar, it won't make bubbles.

Good luck!

I also have a powerhead on the back right corner spraying to the opposite side. Does this affect its effectiveness since its colliding with the spraybar flow?

A little, but not much...the corner under the powerhead won't see as much flow, but will get enough as the water drawn into the powerhead will move past this location.

What type of tank are you running? If its freshwater, and you are using carbon, you could use a little "blackwater extract" to visualize the currents in your tank...just put a squirt in one location at a time and you can watch it dissapate..this will give you an idea of where your flow goes.

Thanks for the help.

I have a 30 gallon tank with a canister on the left back side and a powerfilter on the back right side (next to the powerhead).

Here's some pics: http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v347/djsly/

Note, they are a week old pics and I've submerged the spraybay.

It is a FW and where can I get some of the extract?

My Eheim has a spray bar in three sections.
I have one across the surface about 15degree and the other two past 45degrees. My air stones and the two UG filter rises give me plewnty of surface movement.
