It doesn't have the media space of some of the upper-end models, but it is a lot cheaper and serves my purpose just fine. |

As you said you want a good one and I assume by that you me a quality one as well. In saying that there is not much choice quality cost $$$ and I would suggest you have a good look at the Eheim range and then take one step up as for a bigger tank. I run a Eheim Pro11 in the 5ft and a smaller internal Eheim for the Betta tank both excellent products. EHEIM Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. The flow rate are good and the flow by rate is exceptable, the cost for these are minimal and you can get replacement parts for them. Djrichie "So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish" Douglas Adams |

Cheap material and cheap design, a hazard due to lack of fitting parts and a trouble to keep running properly. Yes, they are initally less expensive. Personally, I would always go with Eheim for a canister. They are pricey but you get excellent quality and durability plus ease of mind. If you shop online you will get a much better deal than in stores. |

I have also been told that they are a cheaper version of the Eheim using naturally cheaper products. Joe Potato Fish Addict Kind of a Big Deal Posts: 869 Votes: 309 Registered: 09-Jan-2001 | What sort of trouble have you had with Rena, catdancer? I've been running mine for a little over a year now, with no major problems (well, apart from those cheap little plastic hose clamps they give you, but that's a $2 fix). |

I have been running an "aqua one" 1500L/ph canister filter for 5-6 years now without any dramas, still as quite as the day I bought it (thinking it was a short term until I could afford to waste some money on something better)and it has worked so well I haven't bothered yet. Eheim definitely seems to be the "best" choice if you can afford it. I at that stage was a poor student with a passion for fish and cars and obviously could not! |

Hari Seldon Hobbyist Posts: 87 Kudos: 40 Registered: 24-Aug-2007 | Haven't heard good things about Fluval...specifically, a buddy of mine had one and the clips that hold the impeller/motor unit to the canister were plastic, and one snapped on him. Its probably ok as a filter, but the durability of it is questionable. I'd go Eheim. I run one for my cichlid tank and its solid as a rock, and SUPER quiet too. 72G Bowfront. 1 Sunshine Peacock, 2 Yellow Labs, 1 Ps. Elongatus, 1 Blue Ahli, 1 Red Kadanga, 1 Mel.
