Cleaning Canister Hoses | |
Gone_Troppo Enthusiast Posts: 285 Kudos: 196 Registered: 13-Mar-2007 | Hi, I'm looking at the hoses attached to my canister filters and thinking that they are starting to get a bit gunked up, must be almost time to clean them. How do you clean your canister hoses? Do you have special tools for the job? I'm looking for any tips on how to make this task a little less fiddly. G_T Never be afraid to try something new. Your LFS should have them in a pack of 3 or 4 different sizes. Just use your vac tank water in a bucket and stuff it in and move it in and out, flip the hose go throught the other side and do it again. If you can find them in AU Troppo let me know. Drop sinker through tube, get fishing line and pull the cloth through Rinse and repeat. Don't over-stuff your cloth and make sure you tie it in the middle or it might slip out and get stuck. Rinse with a garden hose in high to shift the niggly bits You can get the snake-like brushes but they are not always long enough and, IME anyhoo, generally miss the middle. If you have shortish tubes and find a longish brush then you should be set The other downside is that, if you find them and they are long enough, they tend to be available in very cheap or very expensive and the cheap ones moult more than a persian cat. Get the exxy ones |

Only thing use very strong fishing line or a strong cord, then flush it out via a hose or a tap. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
