Last xmas my fiancee and I purchased our firsh home. Before moving in i tiled all but 3 rooms, with one bed room tiled to become my new fish room (pics posted in photo booth.) Just inside the front door there is a 1m by 60cm alcove section in the wall. My reddevil was in need of a new larger tank. and loved face to face contact with us. When he was in the fish room he would swirl the surface water to cause splashes so id come and look at him. Any way the tank was built by a father of a friend for some booze that cost a bargin for what i got. The dimensions are 1m x 60cm x 75cm tall, 10mm glass. the stand was made in my garage. I used 35mm shs tube for the legs and lower frame, and the base 16mm MDF sits on 40mm x 3mm angle. Zapped it with the welder, gave it a clean, quick squirt of paint and wah-lah one custom tank setup.
Have fun

Very simple but a basic well constructed design. Those trade skills do come in handy dont they.

Oh yeah they sure do. Ive built 5 stands to date and am currently planning a 2 x 1 tank bank for my shellies and expansion of my collection. I have covered the stand under my new plant setup with obselete stock green granite style vynal tiles purchased from work for 10 bucks a box. If i have a sump and put the heater in there is there any need to have one in the main tank/s? The tank holds 400L and the sump will hold between 50L to 70ish L. I am still working on what tank, box or other to use for the sump. I will run a rio 1800LPH power head back up. With that kinda change over it should keep warm im thinking. Wont be needing a heater till next year though as today was a 36C day and its only the start fo spring Have fun

Cool setup man, nice job

My only suggestion would be to either not use MDF, or seal it first so when it gets wet it doesn't fall apart

The joins have been sealed with silicone and will be caped with 7mm dark green plastic angle. This didnt take long at all. It gives solid a carved granite look and i like it Have fun
