I'm looking at one of these eheim filters for my 45, any opinions on either one? Both are withing 10 dollars of each other, so cost really isn't a factor. Can't really afford the pro series.

thanks

Ihave the Ecco 2235 for my 46 bowfront. It's a great filter.
Actually the 2233 is now the 2234 the only difference being is that it comes with the efisubstrate and not the pads.

For that size tank I would go with the 2235/2236. It's only $10 more and has a capacity up to 85 gallons. Eheims are big on biological filteration so the flow will not be too powerfrul for your tank. You could regulate the flow anyway.

Can't really afford the pro series. What is the diference in the cost. The Pro series are certainly better. Have a good look and compare the filtration material used, and all the other features it has. The Pro is fully made in Germany as well.
My Pro is an excellent piece of equipment

The ECCO is the best compromise for price and convienence.
I only paid about $80 for my Ecco 2235 online.

i recently bought an ecco, and it's great. it was the best value for money in England. easy to prime. no noise at all. Looks easy to clean (i look it to bits as soon as i got it) and this is gonna sound stupid but it looks great. i have an open stand with no cupboards but i don't mind it showing.

Lou your right it is a good looking filter. Very quiet too.
Cleaning is so easy with the separate twisting media trays.

Thanks all for the advice.

I think I'm going to order the ECCO later today. thatpetplace.com has some good prices going right now, about $15 less than drsfostersmith.com. The pro series 2026 looks really great, but my fish supply "allowance" won't cover it.
