EHIEM Primer sluggish | |
Bar-B Hobbyist Posts: 51 Kudos: 27 Votes: 18 Registered: 28-Mar-2006 | I have an EHIEM PRO II canister filter which I bought brand new and has been running for 4 months. Yesterday when I turned it off to clean the canister, the primer would not suck in the water into the canister. I finally had to pour water into it to finally get it started. The impeller was working but I just couldn,t get the canister filled. The instruction manual said that for sluggish priming support to grease the "O" ring with vasilene which I did. And also to grease the sealing ring, what is that? I'm afraid to turn it off again until I find the problem. Is there anything else like taking the impeller apart to clean that I should be doing after 4 mths? Anybody with an EHEIM please advise??? Thank-you 120 GAL. You should have received a little tube of vaseline or petroleum jelly wih your unit. You may use that product for the "o" ring and the sealing ring. The part number is 7345988. He simply explained to me that if I start with an empty canister after cleaning (instead of pouring some water into it) the pressure will automatically suck the water into the canister with only one or two pumps. So I went home, tried that and WHOOSHHHH in sucked the water!!!! I feel so stupid!!! Oh well live and learn. 120 GAL.
