I am on the verge of tossing the entire canister into the street!?!?!

Ok, so I did a water change, disconnected the filter, drained the filter, changed the cotton-floss media, reconnected the hoses and filter, and turned on the filter.

At that point, I did my little trick where I connect the output hose to my python, and turn on the tap to create suction and prime my filter. This worked the last time I did a water change (no media change).

However, thist time, even though I was getting water to suction into the Python, once I disconnected the output from the python, no stream would continue.

I thought maybe it was because the canister had no water, so I filled it, and tried the same technique with the python - again - same result.

I checked the impeller, and there was no obvious damage (but I am a novice, so i could be missing something).

The Manual sucks!!!! Its only 2.5 REALLY skimpy pages with NO trouble shooting section.

Its a new filter (bought it in September).

What the heck am I doing wrong??????

The first thing I would do would be contact where you bought it from or Eheim Direct.

I would pull it apart again and check all the inlet and outlet connections, just to make sure it is not blocked some where. Does it have a primer? If the impeller sounds like it is rattling it could be sucking in air some where. In the Pro11 there is a small rubber piece at the ends of the shaft check if they are there.
Your info booklet should have a list of all the spare parts check to see if you have put it all back together correctly

Ok, so next time, instead of throwing the canister into the street - I'll just throw MYSELF into the street?

My LFS guy took a look at the filter, and pulled out the cardboard lining that was inside the canister....apparently I should have done this (I felt stupid at that point) - he assured me that I was not the only person he had seen who had done this.

BUT - to make it worse....I had the intake and output reversed.

I got it home and primed in like 30 seconds?!?!?!

Bottom line - I am an idiot.

Don't worry we all have done stupid things. The quickest answer is often staring at us.
I recently bought an electric lawn mower and it would not start no matter what I did. One phone call and down to a close dealer. He started it in seconds.
Other than the START button it had two release handles one each side of the start button, release them and it stops a very good safety feature,

BUT they do not tell you any where in the start up instructions hold handle in and press starter.

Glad you got it all sorted out and now welcome the the world of excellent filtration by Eheim

Funny!! Hope your lawn is looking nice and even!

I actually noticed a HUGE difference in the Eheim's power now that it is properly installed. I used to have the cut off fully opened, and I would get a steady, but not over-powering stream - now, if I set it to fully open it'll blast right out of my tank????

The water already looks like million times cleaner!

Great product.
