Has anybody ever shortend there flow bar. I was thinking about cutting my flow bar to fit the end of my tank. Does anyone see why this wouldn't work?

I think it would depend on the flowbar. However, of all the flow bar "styles" I can think of it wouldn't matter

When you say shorten I would think twice. Reason you could easy build up a back pressure as the bar is designed to release a set amount of water.

If you must shortened it you will have to find a way of releasing the extra water. If it has holes you might be able to make them larger. If you make them too large you will not have the pressure to create a good flow into the tank.

Keith-

You definitely have made a great point. After thinking about it, I think I would be worried about doing it as well. Thanks for setting me straight

You know, I almost did that myself a couple months ago. Keith has a great point though. It sound kinda risky. If you do feel like experimenting, and try it, let us know how it works. I would be interested in doing the same thing on one of my tanks.

I can assure I would never try it on my expensive Eheim Pro 11.

I have thought about back presure. Thats why I was asking if anybody has done it before. Looks like I will ave to do alittle experimenting. I thought about making one to. I wouldn't have to shorten it that much and I am going to get a complete set of hardware (tubes for the xP3) and go from there. At least I will still have a good spray bar. I also thought about finding the area of the holes combined and make what holes are there after I cut the bar bigger so the area stayes the same. I will post the results as soon as I have some. Thanks for responding.

I remember someone did do it before but can't remember the exact post. They cut more and larger holes in the remaining section of spraybar. I suppose it can work but there's some risk to your cannister.
