Should i switch them to glass hoods? What are the benefits of this? ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |

Glass Versa-Top hoods are good for reducing evaporation a little better than a standard plastic hood, but can stain easily if not keep up with. Versa tops are also good for placing multiple lights on top of a tank to grow plants with. Really up to you, i think the glass tops look a little better and that way you can customize your lighting options. They also come with plastic strips you can cut for your filters and heater cords too, and can be replaced if yours gets gungy. With a plastic hood once you've popped out the hole, you've got it forever. |

Glass gets to be a pain as water spots and stuff, so you will have to add another thing on the list when you do water changes. |

Yup. I'm that crazy Twilight/animal/music girl |

The hoods with plastic generally only have a tiny strip that will not accomadate anything but 1 standard fluorescent tube. That means you probably won't accomplish more than 1wpg in lighting. If the strip is larger it still doesn't stand up to the heat from a power compact very well. |
