I also think there could be a bid difference in the temperatures from top to bottom of the water. Unless you are having a UG filter there will be no water movement through substrate. Plants certainly will grow with a bottom heat but could it be too hot for them. Sorry ZMan but these concerns would worry me about using such a product. I use a similar heating for my garden 6x3ft hot box.
