Well after finally getting a new impeller for my AC 200 (Yes I chose to pay more and drive extra to get it from my LFS rather than online) it turns out that the filter is still making the same noise. Is it something I'm missing in the re-assembly process, something else that might be making the nosie, or really just time for a new filter (thinking a penguin 330) ?

Hi Babel,
If you have eliminated the possibility of snails,
and gotten rid of the air within the impeller
chamber, and are sure you have the impeller in
"right side up," then probably, the seats (what
the impeller sits in/on) are worn allowing it
to "rattle" around within the pump housing.

I don't know if the seats are replacable in that
model. A phone call/email to the mfr describing
what filter you have, what the sound is like, and
the steps you have taken to eliminate the noise,
would be appropriate at this time. Either option
would be less expensive than purchasing a new
filter.

I couldnt stand the noise it made.

It did it with 2 separate motors and 2 impellers.

I took it back.
