I need help from any JBJ owners/ tinkerers out there. I have a 48" JBJ Formosa that I bought about 6 months ago, and I noticed just a couple of days ago that one bank of lights (the bank NOT connected to the cooling fans) does not work. I checked to see if maybe the bulbs were burnt out, but they're fine. I'm guessing (a very UNEDUCATED guess) that maybe the starter (and/or ballast, if not the same thing) might have burnt out. Has this happened before to anyone? Can anyone tell me if I can fix it myself? Or should I return it to the store I bought it from about 6 months ago?
Please help~!
Much thanks in advance!

Hi,
Personally, if it is still under warranty, I would
take it back as any "inspection" that you do, or have
done, to figure out what is wrong, will void the warranty.
Having said that, I discovered that the wires for one
light had come loose and simply rewired the socket.

JBJ has some issues with the ballasts in thier PC light fixtures. I would send it in, or take it back to where you bought it. JBJ is very good about working with you to get the problem fixed.....sometimes even just sending you a new ballast and letting you install it yourself.

Well, my lfs gave me their warehouse #, and I called them. Fortunately, they're here in L.A., so I can just drop it by for repair, and it's still under warranty. They said I should be able to pick it back up within a day or two.
How lucky is that? I was so terrified I'd have to pay for shipping on this fixture, and it MUST weight about 35 lbs. or so.

Just wanted to keep interested parties updated. I drove over to the JBJ warehouse (fortunately in my city!), dropped off the light, and they repaired it for free (it was still under warranty, would have cost $55 otherwise). It needed a ballast replaced. I'm very happy with their service, I just hope I don't lose another ballast very quickly as I've only had the unit (bought new) since April.
