Here is how I was able to keep my crab tank from fogging up by keeping the lid ajar. A simple prop would not due, because then the cat could lift it. I used coat hanger.

If the cat put his nose in, it would then get its head in. Then it could just stand on an island and eat the crab maybe--the tank is only 1/4 full.

thats a cool idea, i guess i could use something similar in reverse to keep it closed. the only this is i have no back half of my hood.
