Hi guys...
The setup is a juwel 125L tank with the standard 2x18W florescent lighting, this looks a little inadequate to me ( although i assume the chaps at Juwel did the maths ).

Anyone know if they can be uprated to a larger wattage ok, is the 2x18W adequate or should i be looking at a total relacement with somthing better.

was thinking of redoing the hood with 4x30W.

Any help appreciated!
Thanks.

Hi,
I don't believe that you could simply "plug in" a set of
30 or 40 watt bulbs in place of the 18 watt bulbs. I don't
think that the ballast will handle that large a jump.

One thing you might consider is changing the bulbs to
the CoralSun brand. 18 watt Coral Sun will be "brighter"
than some of the other "plant friendly" bulbs. You might
try that before investing in a whole other hood.
