Ive had my 30 litre Mirabello tank for about 3 months now and ive noticed a problem with the pump. Everytime I do a water change (about 20%) the pump stops sucking the water round (but I dont understand this because the water level is still very high enough for the pump to carry on circulating the water around).

Anyway, this has only started happening on the last 2 occasions that I have done a 20% water change. Then the pump wont start back up again till I fill the tank complete with water again (to the ridge).

Is this a problem with the actual pump? Do I need a new one or not? What other causes could it be for the pump to not work when I only do a 20% water change (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WATER LEVAL IS REALLY HIGH SO THE PUMP SHOULD CARRY ON WORKING).

I'm not familar with the model you mention, but have you cleaned it lately. Alot of times the gunk will build up on the impellor ect causing trouble with restarting it, or causing difficulty with it to function @lower water levels....I'm sure someone else might know a bit more :%).

One question is the intake below the water line at all times?
If not it could be getting an air lock.
If it only happens at the water change I dought it could be a dirty impelar. Regardless it should be removed and cleaned at every water change.
