Well I just purchased a Philips 15W Aquarium and Indoor Plant Bulb from HomeDepot for my 10g Endler's Tank. My question is right now when its on it has a magenta, pinkish tint to it. Is this just temporary or is the bulb suppose to be this color? Thanks

Hi,
No, it is not temporary, it is permanant. It sounds like
a "grow lux" style and emits in the 5000K (red) range.

If it screws into the socket it is probably incandescent
and not a good idea for an aquarium as it puts out alot
of heat. If you have a standard light bulb socket in
the hood, take the bulb back and purchase a screw in
flourscent bulb from them. They have ones that are
labeled DAYLIGHT or SUNLIGHT and that is what you want.
These bulbs produce light in the 6700K range and contain
what the plants want, as well as what humans want to
view their tanks.
Do not purchase the WARM WHITE, or WARM anything, as
they are designed for reading.

If you have the standard two pin flourscent tube, then
take it back and again, purchase the daylight or sunlight
bulb for your tank.

Darn so my tank will be pink hehe it is not incandescent it is flourescent and made specifically for growing indoor plants and aquariums. Think I should get another one? I dont see anything wrong with it, I can live with the color. What do you guys think?

Hi,
No, there is nothing "wrong" with the light, other than
it appears kinda pink, and changes the colors of the
fish and plants.
You can have the same benifits for the plants, but with
a light that looks more natural if you simply exchange
the bulb for one labeled DAYLIGHT or SUNLIGHT at the
same store.
