I haven't, but I'm sure it would be the same as a cannister spraybar. It would even out the flow a bit I'm sure.

What I am kind of thinking of doing is adding two power heads to my tank hooked to the same spraybar that runs the length of the tank.

Should be fine as long as there are enough holes, or the holes are big enough.

Your main concern would be not to have a back pressure build up by not having enough holes or holes not large enough in the spray bar.

I know that Anthony Calfo has run PVC around the perimeter of the top of the tank, drilled holes in it that connect to nozzles, and then hooked the whole deal up to the return pumps on his sump.

I'm sure you could do something similar just by drilling holes in the bottom of the PVC... just make sure you've got enough holes that they don't put backpressure on the pump (it'll make noise and screw up your pump). Don't make the holes too big either, or fish might get in them if the power goes out, and that would be nasty when it came back on

Have fun

So just make sure to have plenty of wholes.

About how many per foot and what size?

I'm not exactly sure, as it would depend on the powerhead too...

I'd say if you were doing a 500gph powerhead, put a 1/4" hole every 1.5" or so... I think that would be enough for something like that...

You might have to do some experimenting... just remember that having too many holes is better than not having enough holes

Very true. If I run a sponge on this thing can I get away with taking off my power filter (HOB)?

You might be able to get away with takin' off the HOB, but I personally wouldn't. Putting a sponge on the powerhead would make a great spare home for bacteria, but I wouldn't consider it a replacement for a real filter...

I wouldn't have the power heads working against eachother.
I would have 1 bar per head, I believe that would be much more effective.
