I was wondering if anyone had advice on removing the plastic molding/frame on the top of an aquarium. Personally, I've found that is generally the most difficult piece to remove. If anyone had advice, that would be greatly appreciated!

Is it possible to get a very thin knife between the glass and the strip? I mean flat not a short bladed knife.

Also a backed razor blade could be used. Start one end once you get that off the rest should be easy.

If the tank is empty turn it upside down and try to get some thinners under the strip.

I broke the center support of my moulding and bought a new piece to replace it. I have a 55 gallon tank and I just changed the moulding on the tank on June 24th of this year.

You can use a utility knife to break the seals around it. It takes a while, but if you work at it, eventually, it will loosen.

I'm hoping the tank is empty???

I had to change mine with the fish inside. It was a bit difficult that way. I had to drain over half of the water out of the tank and use bar clamps. Everything is fine now, but due to having a big water change, some of my fish got sick.

Yeah, the tank is empty. I work at Petsmart, so every now and then we get large broken tanks, 29+ gallons, I can take them home for free, I would like to be able to take the plastic off in one piece to replace the single pane that is broken and then have a large tank for very cheap!

a word of caution: tanks are meant to take what they were meant to take. If you go slapping tanks together, you may end up with lots of broken glass and a bunch of water on the floor.
