If the plant were actually against the section of the heater where the heating element is located (the ceramic part) it could cook the leaves if the heater is on for long periods of time. When you plant the plants, give them an inch or two clearance from the heater, and allow them to grow into the area. During your weekly tank maintenace, trim back those that have grown too close.
