Setting up a Bubble Wand or Bubble Bar | |
bran025 Small Fry Posts: 3 Kudos: 2 Votes: 0 Registered: 21-Mar-2006 | I just had a quick question about a bubble wand or bubble bar as the package I just bought says. I have everything set up and the bubble bar running in my tank, but the air pump that I purchased has different settings. You can either set it to produce more or less bubbles. My question is does it matter what it is set on? Are more or less bubbles the best? And can the setting really affect my fish? Thanks in advance for the advice, I am still new to this. Brandi |

The only time it would become an issue is if you are running CO2 for your plants. Too much bubbles would dissolve this before the plants actually got the benefit of it. I think having some bubbles is a good thing, it aerates the water and keeps it circulating. Some fish love to swim in amongst them as well. You will be able to tell yourself whether there is too many bubbles, again I think its purely a case of what you prefer. Hope this helps Cheers Crusha |

I tried to put a 24" one in a 55g and my airpump just couldn't run it. I only got bubbles from about the first 2/3rds of the wand. |

This is all for the good except if you have CO2 when less is better in that case. Place the wand as low as possible at the back of the tank many bury them but some clog up doing this as they get older they can get an algae coat on them.
