I have been noticing that my water stinks in the tank.
It smells like lake water.
My tank is crystal clear and the water quality is all in check. I have NO algea anymore, yes.. I kept the Chinese Algea eaters and they are fine and dont bother anyone but they sure do eat like crazy.
I did partial water changes and have upped that abit and still the water stinks. I dont get it.
Any idea?
Thanks

Your filter cartridge/media may need to be cleaned or changed. I've had friends who've had this problem and it's mainly due to filter needing a good scrub and new cartridge.

Hydrogen sulphide, possibly methane is often at fault. Do you really get down into the gravel when you do a gravel vac? Perhaps its down to trapped water or air in a hollow ornament?

I think I found the reason, thanks to Clippers1996.
While my filter media isnt bad the inside of the tubes etc is thick with slime. I cleaned them good a couple months ago and didnt think I needed to clean them this often but I guess I do.
Its late now so will get at it tomorrow and see how it goes and if that was the problem.
Thanks...
Todd

Sound's like you will have to rethink your maintenance program. I would also do several water changes 3-4 days appart as well as several deep gravel cleanings.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
